About Me

Rebecca Mitri, M.S. CCC-SLP

I am a licensed speech-language pathologist in New York with certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). I am dedicated to helping children build communication skills that empower them to connect, express, and thrive. I work with children across a range of speech and language needs in various settings - including schools, homes, clinics, and community environments.

I believe that therapy should be engaging, meaningful, and family-centered. By embedding intervention into everyday routines and creating individualized home programs, I strive to make communication growth realistic and achievable for every family.

When I’m not working, I love to ski, run, read, bake, and travel. I got my 200-hour yoga teaching certification in 2019 and always find time to squeeze in a class or two during the week.

Experience

Before completing my master’s degree, I worked as a licensed Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in California, providing Early Intervention services for children ages birth to three. During that time, I discovered my passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and began working alongside an AAC specialist. These early, in-home therapy experiences shaped my commitment to family-centered, play-based therapy in natural environments.

Since moving to New York in 2022, I’ve provided evaluations, individual therapy, and group sessions across a variety of settings. I now work part-time in a private, specialized school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as in a private clinic as the Director of Evaluations, while seeing private clients on the side.

My Approach

Therapy sessions with me combine structured learning with playful, functional experiences - whether that means sitting at a table, jumping on the couch, or exploring the community together. I often include siblings and peers to support natural social interactions and carryover beyond our sessions.

I value collaboration and take an interdisciplinary approach, working closely with teachers, occupational and physical therapists, physicians, and, of course, the families, to ensure cohesive, whole-child support.
